Mediterranean lands and in the Crusades. This conical helmet has been
called "Norman" because it was popular with them and also
well-illustrated in the Bayeux Tapestry depiction of the Norman Conquest
of England. This helmet provided a glancing surface to blows and was
light, airy and comfortable - important features for warriors wearing
